CHRISTMAS: IMPORTANT FACTS YOUR FAMILY MUST KNOW

-By Oba Samuel

Christmas comes once in a year but its effects last longer among husbands and wives.

Christmas is a season full of fun; merriment and demonstration of love. This makes many Couples to be eager as Christmas approaches.

But due to ignorance of important information, many couples damage the reason for the season by committing some blunders in the process of celebrating the yuletide.

 Take note of this information:

1. PREVENT FOOD POISONING: A lot of food will be in circulation this season. So, we need to be aware that food poisoning is so rampant this period affecting many people’s health. You need to prevent this in your home in order not to spoil the fun of the yuletide season for you and your loved ones.

How?

✔ATTEND TO LEFTOVER FOODS: Take leftovers to the fridge/freezer within two hours after it has been taken off the fire because the bacteria that produce food poisoning is more active at room temperature. Tare it out of the fridge and  heat again if you want to eat or use it to entertain visitors.

✔From the third day, ensure you put your leftovers into the freezer with air-tight containers if you truly want to prevent food poisoning. Please, note that fridge can’t prevent the poison after three days. But don’t let it stay too long in the freezer because it will lose taste.

2.DON’T SPEND CHRISTMAS AWAY FROM YOUR FAMILY :The yuletide season is a time to spend quality time and have fun with your spouse, Children and loved ones.

The romantic love often occupied the air during this season and it is a dangerous game for you to leave your spouse and go to another location to celebrate your Christmas holiday.

In reality, many new relationships are initiated and there are lots of hangouts and shows for lovebirds.

All these are sophisticated temptations that have ushered many people into extramarital affairs and their marriage has not recover from the damage till date.

Your Spouse first ! Push everything aside and be with your spouse during this season.

It is a serious error to leave your spouse at this season.

Communicate deeply with your spouse and agree to be together.

3. AVOID FINANCIAL CONFLICTS :

It’s a known fact that people spend more money in December than in other months of the year.

Bulk of money will go into buying rice, chicken, drinks, clothes, shoes, bags, gifts ,decorations and payment for tourist centres.

Your children and family members will place lots of demands on you and lack of financial ability to provide for all these things may make the atmosphere in your home tensed.

Please, bear with your spouse. Has he/she suffered job loss, salary cut or business losses in the course of the year?

Be humane and show love with understanding. Stay together in love and unity at these trying times.

You may not have money to buy new clothes, chicken, Christmas lights, and Christmas tree and yuletide decorations but lighten your burden by handing it over to Jesus, the burden bearer.

Hope in God for better 2023 and the coming year will definitely be your turn around year in Jesus name.

4. SETTLE UNRESOLVED ISSUES BEFORE CHRISTMAS:

In the spirit of the season, let forgiveness and acceptance paves way for love to flow.

So, settle your differences before December 25th.

Wounded emotions will make the atmosphere dull and lose its fun.

Try and make peace with your spouse, settle your scores amicably, heal wounds of the past before the day and celebrate the season with better love and affection.

You can’t truly celebrate with heaviness and bitterness of the heart. If the matter is so serious, seek godly counsel.

Let the Prince of peace find expression in your home.

5. SAY NO TO OFFICIAL DUTY ON CHRISTMAS DAY:

Lots of marriages are in shambles today because many people  place value on money more than their spouse and children.

Little wonder some people can sacrifice their yuletide break for extra pay at work.

Note that everything is not about money.

Your spouse and children need to bond with you during this period and not with your money. Don’t be trapped by “financial temptation” of your working place

Try as much as possible not to be on duty during the Christmas because the best place to be is home and not at work.

Stop seeking for money at the detriment of your family-life.

6. DON’T JUST MAKE IT AN ALL FRIENDS AFFAIRS:

The city life often deprive many from spending time with their friends and many husband often use the yuletide holiday to catch some fun with friends and leave their wives at home with children while they are playing or drinking alcohol with their friends.

This is very wrong!

The best person to hang-out with is your spouse and not your friends.

If you’re to visit anyone, you and your wife must agree to visit the person together.

Dress sporty as husbands and wives and hang-out together.

Wives dress smart and look takeaway and never dress like an old woman.

7. DON’T JUST PLUG YOURSELF INTO THE KITCHEN:

Celebration is not complete without food and drinks, but it is an error for a wife to spend the whole day frying and cooking like a Master Chef with no time to dress cute and hangout with her husband.

Wives, I know that ,there will be lots of cooking on that day but wisdom demands you arrange yourself days before the D-day by grinding your pepper and getting your chicken ready in the freezer and make other things ready in order to make your time in the kitchen brief on Christmas day.

This is to enable you ready to catch some fun with your husband.

Mind you, slay Mamas and side chicks are ready hunting for men married to ‘ careless’ wives.

Hope you are not careless with your husband?

Husbands, many demonic agents and girls with HIV/AIDS will be on rampage during the yuletide season to entice unsuspecting men.

Beware! Stick to your wife for the best romantic sex throughout the Christmas celebration and beyond.

Trust me, she will not say’ no’

8. DON’T SHUT YOUR DOOR AGAINST SANTA:

We all must be Santa Claus to our friends, colleagues and neighbours during this season.

Especially to the needy and downtrodden.

Don’t eat alone, don’t just focus on your family alone, spread out to others.

You have shut your door against the Santa Claus by not giving to others.

Be the Santa in your neighbourhood, share gifts to others.

Nothing is too small but give according to your capacity.

9. DON’T QUARREL OVER FUN DESTINATION :

Lack of joint decision on where to celebrate the yuletide season is the bane behind yearly quarrels regarding where to visit for Christmas celebration.

Most of your desires about where to visit on Christmas is based on your upbringings and family tradition which may be different from your spouse.

Note that, for in-laws who are critical, tough, judgmental and harsh, the wife will not want to celebrate Christmas with them in order not to spoil her mood because no wife want a monster-in-law.

I implore all husbands not to use force to make the wife continue with your family tradition.

Discuss together, be flexible and agree with your spouse on where to celebrate it.

10. ADD MUMMIES AND DADDIES TO THE EQUATION:

Remember that you won’t have your in-laws and Parents around forever.

Do not ignore them at this period, extend some love and show of affection to them.

Give money and gifts to them too. Make them happy and they will pray for you.

Treat Grandpa and Grandma well because you will soon be in their shoes but don’t let them rule your family for you, lest it end in ruins.

11. DON’T WASTE THIS OPPORTUNITY: I know this season is about fun and visits but don’t lose this opportunity of planning for a better 2023.

Don’t let this season past without sitting down with your spouse to plan and set individual and family goals for 2023.

12. CREATE TIME FOR FAMILY RETREAT: Spend quality time together with your family in thanksgiving and prayers to load the New Year. Take spiritual possession of the New Year and everything will fall in place for you in Jesus Name.

13. PREPARE FOR JANUARY:

Every January normally look like the longest month in the year.

You need to be a bit too frugal not to lavish money on frivolities towards the celebration of Christmas.

Remember you got your December salary too early and you will have to spend it till January 31st.

Don’t spend all your money on clothes, gifts, drinks, food, packs tourist gardens tickets, cinema houses, parties, among others.

Don’t be fooled, all these discounts don’t count in your bank account. Be smarter.

 Prioritize your needs.

Remember that, January is usually long with lots of bills to be paid, such as Children’s school fees, books, rents, transportation, house keep allowance, among others.

Celebrate with wisdom and moderation.

Enjoy the Christmas break prayerfully and romantically.

Avoid killjoy attitudes and seize the moment to rebuild love, affection and bonding .

I and my Queen wish you a Merry Christmas and a glorious 2023.
